Watch Fox 2 News at 10:00 Tonight

Fox 2 News reporter Ron Savage came to our house this evening and interviewed my parents and myself about Shane. Please watch the 10:00 news on Fox 2 Detroit tonight to see the story. Mr. Savage was very respectful and I hope the news story does Shane justice.

UPDATE:
Apparently we are a now a "grieving family."  Visit the Fox News Detroit site below to see part of the interview we gave:

Grieving Family Remembers Pfc Reifert

I thought that the segment was good, although we probably talked to Mr. Savage (the reporter) for roughly 20 minutes. I suppose I shouldn't take things personally, since the lead story on the news tonight was about a girl who was raped and then hung herself. That, and medical marijuana.

  1. Beth, I thought the interview did Shane justice. He was a true hero and words cannot express the gratitude I have towards him for the work he has done and the price he paid for all of us. The world defiantly lost a great man and please know you and your parents are in constant thoughts and prayers.

  2. Beth and Family, Shane's friends, fellow soldier's and of course, you, his family are in my thoughts and prayers. He and you are all HERO'S. When I saw that beautiful photo today in the Times Herald, it touched my heart. It is so precious. I would like to ask you to consider making it available to be purchased by individuals who would purchase it for a donation to your fund. I have 2 nephews who were in Iraq, and came home safely, that I know would feel a real honor at having that photo of Shane. They would feel it was a priveledge to hang it on there wall. This might sound strange to you, but there is something about the photo that really touched me and I believe could touch other's too. It is almost like a religous picture, that makes you want to meditate on whats important in life. Shane has on almost angelic look on his face, that makes me want to know what he was thinking. I don't want to make you feel bad. I know you are grieving. I just feel this is important. People at my work felt the same way when they saw the photo. Please consider it and if I can help I would be more than willing to. I know how much our boy's over there need our support and I support your efforts to help them. You are all in my prayers. Sorry if you think this is in bad taste. Terri

  3. Hello, Elizabeth:

I only heard about Shane on Tuesday. I cannot express my shock when I heard, and I can only imagine your and your family's grief. I still remember Shane working the various shows with your Dad and he was delightful, polite and a joy. Watching him and your father banter back and forth was a trip.

When your father and I get together for one thing or another, one of the things we always talk about is our children. Kurt is quiet and restrained, but his love for, and pride in both you and Shane comes through clear as a bell.

From me and from my wife Heather, please accept our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers, and we would be grateful if you would pass them on to your parents. You have no doubt heard this from a thousand people already, but if there is anything either of us can do to assist in any way, we would be honored to do whatever we can. You may still have my card; I know your dad does. That number is now a 24/7 number.

Again, our condolences. We will miss him, too.
